I started in the nail industry after having my short bitten nails transformed by a wonderful Fibreglass Technician. She didn't just give me pretty nails, she also gave me confidence! I never forget how this made me feel and I thought, I would love to be able to do this and make women feel great about themselves.
So, I completed a 5 day Fibreglass enhancement course, I was hooked, I found my passion. I opened the FIRST Nail concession in the city of London, within the Tanning Shop franchise, in 1994. Nails in London was born and I am proud to say, after long hard work, made it the success it is today.
In 2003 I joined a fab on line forum called then "The NailGeek" now known as "The SalonGeek". This forum introduced me to some of the most wonderful people in our industry. They all had and still have one thing in common, a passion for nails and education. With the support from my mentors, Gigi Rouse, Samuel Sweet and Liza Smith, I continued to grow as a nail technician and became a CND Liquid and Powder Master Technician and CND Brisa UVGel Technician in 2004.
July 2003 saw me competing for the first time at the ExCel National Nail Competition, gaining a cool 3rd place in Fibreglass tip and overlay and after a few more 3rd places with Fibreglass, finally gaining the 1st place trophy in 2004 at Olympia's National Nail Competition. My last competition was at the "first ever Nailympics" at London Olympia in 2005, I achieved a 4th joined place in the Fibreglass tip and overlay.
I was very fortunate in 2004 to be asked to do the nails for a couple of photo shoots for a French Fashion magazine"Jalouse", and was and still very proud to have done 2 covers for them.
After doing all this fab nail "stuff" I realized that even though all this was very exciting, my passion for sharing my found knowledge was more important. What good is all this experience and knowledge, if you can't pass it on?!?
My passion for teaching and raising the bar for education became my goal. Factual education, education that is based on science and not hearsay. I wanted to be a CND Ambassador! I wanted to make a difference!
I am very proud and privileged, to have become part of the most fantastic education team in May 2011, bringing CND Shellac Education to the City of London and East London areas. I can now make a difference, I can now inspire and I can now help to raise the bar and I can help Technicians to grow their business.
