Sweet Squared

My passion for ‘All Things Nails’ started at a very young age.  I never dreamt it was possible to have such an exciting and rewarding career as I have within our nail industry here in the UK.
Fate took me to America at 21 years of age to the birth place of nails, WOW! Nails everywhere! I quickly enrolled at Beauty College and gained my State Board of California license in all nail services.  After experiencing salon work in America I returned to the UK and opened my first salon in 1987.  It grew at an amazing rate into the successful business that it still is today.

I’ve been lucky to be able to experience many areas within the industry from international educator training, to working on television shows such as The UK’s Next Top Supermodel and Hollyoaks.

I truly take pride in what I do and in 2006 I achieved the ‘Best Nail Professional of the Year’ award at the British Beauty awards in London.  This was an amazing personal achievement for me and a new passion emerged for me to start sharing and passing on my knowledge and experience by giving back in educating our nail techs of the future
.
So, armed with a certificate in education, an A1 assessor’s award and a taste of education it led me to Creative (CND) and Sweet Squared.  Knowing how passionate CND are for education, this is where I wanted to be.  CND’s impressive research and development into producing amazing products and systems always gives myself as an educator and every student and nail tech the support and confidence to succeed.  Bootcamp 09 Highest Academic Award and Bootcamp 09 Valedictorian / best overall top of the class

My taste in music is really wide. I love music that lifts up your spirits.  And classics that give you goose bumps.  I love to relax to music and I love to sing out loud to songs I grew up listening to with my mum playing.  So it won’t come as a surprise when I admit to watching Mama Mia over and over again, especially at the end of a long week with a bottle of wine, bliss!

My favourite food has to be smoked salmon washed down with a fine bottle of pink champagne.
The coolest place I have ever been to?  When my husband took me to an island in the middle of the Indian Ocean which took my breath away.  We scuba dived every day with amazing tropical sea life and watched sharks … from a distance!

Apart from seeing my children’s faces when we eventually get to take them to Disneyland, I can’t think of anywhere I would love to go more than to explore more of the Indian Ocean.

Lastly I tend to be inspired and touched more by what people do in life more than what they say, so I guess my favourite quote is “Actions speak louder than words”.
