Liza Smith - Sittingbourne

Looking back over the last 25yrs, my quiet determination has always been there, but I don’t know if I ever would have believed that my career would reach the heights it has.  My passion for teaching has continued to grow over the years and, I like to share - I am the eldest of four brothers and sisters so it comes naturally.

CND has taken my raw talent and moulded me into an Education Ambassador that can take on a room full of people or I am equally as happy to sit with one student on a 1-2-1 and be just as content.   It is the pursuit of universal truths and the shared passion that all of us in the CND family have and we are proud that we can then pass this on to our students.  This continued training and passing on of passion has enabled me to achieve the accolade that I have tried to win for 8 yrs and in Sept 09 I finally won British Nail Professional of the Year at the British Beauty & Spa Awards.

I am very proud of our industry and I believe that being able to express myself in competitions, both nationally and internationally, help to raise the level of awareness in a positive way about our profession.  It is a great privilege to represent CND and the industry as a whole at this level and I currently hold 15 trophies for nail competitions dating back to 2000!

For the last seven years I have had the privilege of working backstage throughout Fashion Week as a CND team leader and member; I have worked on ad campaigns and done a lot of editorial and my work has been seen on the front covers of Vogue, Tatler and Harpers Bazaar.  I have also worked with Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and Sarah Jessica-Parker to name a few.

Although competing and editorial reflect well on my CV, it is more important that I have the respect of my peers, staff, clients and students.  The care and attention paid to each and every student is of the utmost importance and I feel it has contributed to my success equally.

The training we receive as CND EA’s has pushed me to limits that I didn’t know existed and it enables me to teach my students with confidence; I have met and spoken with the amazing chemists’ behind the development of the products I am proud to represent  - I know I am teaching proven fact and not ‘someone’s opinion’.   It is that pursuit of universal truths and the shared passion that all of us within the CND family have; we are proud to pass this on to our students.

On me personally!!  I have a passion for live music and recent outings have included Oasis, Kasabian, The Enemy, Pink and our favourite - Paul Weller!!

Favourite films and TV range from Torchwood and Spooks to Harry Potter, and I also enjoy shamelessly shallow stuff like “I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!”!

I have very few dislikes as far as food is concerned but would choose savoury dishes over desserts!

I would love to continue to see as much of the world as possible and my main wish is to travel more with my family to share as many new experiences as we can.

My favourite quotes is “What other people see as a risk, I see as an opportunity”
