Collina Strada SS27 X KEVIN.MURPHY for Copenhagen Fashion Week

Following the Collina Strada show at Copenhagen Fashion Week, we’re excited to share the hair story created by KEVIN.MURPHY Global Professional Ambassador Eugene Souleiman + the incredible KEVIN.MURPHY backstage team, for the brand’s Delirium in Bloom PS27 collection.

Inspired by astral landscapes, sparkling gases, colour and controlled chaos, Eugene created two key hair directions for the show, Couture Disco and Space Fairy, using hair almost as a fabric and extending the collection’s themes of transformation and upcycling into the beauty look.

The hair incorporated fabric from previous Collina Strada collections, directly connecting the styling to Hillary Taymour’s wider creative concept and giving existing materials a new expression and purpose. This approach also ties naturally into KEVIN.MURPHY’s wider brand ethos, where creativity and performance sit alongside a longstanding commitment to making more considered choices for the environment. The collaboration brought together two brands united by the belief that strong creative expression and greater environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.

COUTURE DISCO

The first of the show’s two primary hair directions, Couture Disco, took the classic updo somewhere
decidedly less polite. Built organically on each model, the hair was first prepped with FRESH.HAIR and
ANTI.GRAVITY by KEVIN.MURPHY to create the base, adding texture, body and workable volume before
being manipulated into sculptural, abstract forms. SESSION.SPRAY was then layered throughout to build
structure and hold as the shape developed, allowing the hair itself to become part of the architecture of the
look.

"Couture Disco is an updo, but it’s the updo after a storm in the galaxy. It has this chaotic, abstract
weirdness happening within it. We used a lot of SESSION.SPRAY — because I love it — building the hair up and creating structure with the hair itself as we went.”

SPACE FAIRY

For Space Fairy, the silhouette moved closer to the head while the finish became even more fantastical.
Souleiman saturated the hair with SESSION.SPRAY, using the hairspray almost as a gel before wetting and
compressing the hair close against the scalp beneath a net. Tinsel and glitter were then incorporated into the finished looks, creating a reflective, almost extraterrestrial surface.

“For Space Fairy, we used SESSION.SPRAY almost like a gel. We sprayed it flat into the hair, close to the scalp, got the hair wet and then squashed it down with a net before adding tinsel and glitter. We really went
for it. Nothing about this show is halfway — everything is very much in your face, which is what I really like.
More is more.”
