LIGHT ELEGANCE DREAMY SKY P+ GEL POLISH EDIT BY CONNI ARNOTT

15th Jul 2021

At Sweet Squared, it’s our customers who are at the heart of what we do, so that’s why we’ve teamed up with four of techs to create summer themed edits, designed for the pro, by the pro. Let’s catch up with Conni Arnott who’s curated Light Elegance Dreamy Sky’s themed edit:

Conni ArnottDreamy Sky P+ Gel Polish Edit by Conni Arnott Mood Board

How long have you been in the industry?

3 years

What do you love about Light Elegance?

Everything!! The variety of products to suit every tech and client, the colours, the glitters, I love it all! But if I had to choose I'd say the thing I love most is that the products are HEMA free, and made by industry experts. I have peace of mind knowing that the products I use on my clients and myself are safe.

What is your favourite summer colour from Light Elegance?

True Love is my go to this summer! You can't beat a bold, bright pink in the sunshine.

What is your ‘can’t live without’ product from Light Elegance?

Soft Pink Extreme. It's a great all rounder for both strength and flexibility, but it's also such a beautiful base colour.

What’s the best thing about our industry?

The nail community. I've found such a lovely and supportive group of fellow techs on Instagram, who share the love and want to see each other succeed. It can be lonely working as a self-employed nail tech from home, but if I need some advice or just wee chat it's great to know there's always someone I can go to.

What’s your top tech tip?

Perfect your prep. Take your time with it, and be thorough. During my appointments I spend just as much time preparing the nail as I do applying product and doing nail art. If you find a routine that works for you and stick with it, your results will speak for themselves.

What’s your anthem to your summer?

I've been revisiting my old playlists recently and have been loving ARIZONA. Where I wanna be, by them is my favourite summer tune.

Conni’s edit take inspiration from the pretty pink sunsets and dreamy blue skies. Using hot pink True Love, matched with soft pastels lavender and blues, giving this dreamy colour pallet. Check out the three looks she’s created and how you can replicate these for your clients:

Blue Skies Ahead Design

Step-By-Step

1. Prep nail and cleanse.

2. Apply QD base and cure in LE dot.

3. Take Blue Skies Ahead and apply half way on one side of the nail.

4. Sweep the brush upwards and along to create a swirled edge.

5. Apply Blue Skies Ahead up to the free edge, filling any gaps.

6. Cure and repeat a second time for full coverage. Make sure to cap the free edge with each coat.

7. Next take Soft Serve onto a palette and with a swirly brush, outline the edge of Blue Skies Ahead and cure.

8.  Then take True Love onto a palette and use a dotting tool to create two small dots next to each other. Don't cure yet.

9. Using a fine detailer brush, draw two lines connecting the two dots with a point, then fill the gaps. You should be left with a beautiful heart shape.

10. Repeat for the second heart, and then cure.

11. Apply P+ Top Coat and cure.

12. Cleanse and apply LE Pro Cuticle Oil to restore moisture to the nail and skin.

Step-By-Step

1. Prep nail and cleanse.

2. Apply QD base and cure in LE dot.

3. Take True Love using a fine detailer brush and create the outline of your French.

4. Fill the gaps and cure.

5. Make sure to cap the free edge.

6. Take a dotting tool with Blue Skies Ahead and apply five small dots to create flower petals.

7. Repeat this step using Soft Serve and cure.

8. Using a small amount of a colour of your choice (I used White Swimsuit for contrast) place this in the centre of the flowers using your dotting tool.

9. Apply P+ Top Coat and cure.

10. Cleanse and apply LE Pro Cuticle Oil to restore moisture to the nail and skin.

Soft Serve Design

Step-By-Step

1. Prep nail and cleanse.

2. Apply QD base and cure in LE dot.

3. Apply another (this time very thin) coat of QD base - do not cure. This will act as blooming gel.

4. Take True LoveSoft Serve and Blue Skies Ahead on a palette and swirl to create a marbled look.

5. Pick up the marbled gel polish on a brush and swirl onto the uncured QD base.

6. Play around until you're happy with the look, and leave it to bloom for a few seconds before curing.

7. Add a few white dots to the nail for additional detail using a dotting tool.

8. Before curing, use a fine detailer brush to create a star from one of the dots by dragging the product up and down, and out from side to side. Then cure.

9. Apply P+ Top Coat and cure.

10. Cleanse and apply LE Pro Cuticle Oil to restore moisture to the nail and skin.
